    Update:: 16 Sep 08

    There seems to have been some error and a mixup on my part and the screen shot for the next version of the application was accidentally uploaded. This new version features a Search Filter Box which will allow you to filter all the feeds which has particular keywords which you specify. The keyword are separated by spaces. A screen shot of the app is here.

    The version (ver 1.1) is currently under review by Apple and should be available in the App Store within a week. I apologise for anyone feeling that he or she had been mislead by the screenshot as this is not intentional. However, the intended app will be available at the app store soon and thus I ask for your patience.

    It also has been brought to my attention that the number on the side is not counting the new articles in the feed correctly. This is rather interesting as I had designed the number to count the total number of articles in a single feed. But after a bit of thought, I realise that the total number of articles is not intuitive and it would be far better to count the new feeds instead. This will require a bit a work as I will need to rethink how new articles should be marked new, and the new marks removed. Currently, the new mark is removed on two occasions. 1, the article is read. 2, the feeds are refreshed. I hope to finish this new application in 2 weeks time.

    Lastly, the reader does not currently support Atom feeds. This is planned for the next version and should feature together with the changes in the number counting.

    Hello everyone! The Black RSS Feed Reader has launched!

    This is a reverse coloured offline RSS Feed reader. It can read RSS 1.0 and RSS 2.0 feeds. Feed data are rendered in HTML.

    Features

  • Feed data is downloaded and stored on the device for 30 days. (However, any links to images are not downloaded and will need a valid internet connection to be viewed.)
  • New Feeds are marked.
  • The original link can be opened in Safari.
  • Reader remembers the last read feed and scrolls to it when the application restarts.
  • Some websites have the RSS Link in a link tag. The reader can extract the RSS Link and add it to the list of feeds. Most major websites have this link.
